CHEYENNE, Wyo., and BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Warren Federal Credit Union and Community Financial Credit Union on Tuesday said their two CUs will merge as one organization on April 1 under the new name: Blue Federal Credit Union.
Cheyenne, Wyo.-based Warren FCU has $595 million in assets. Broomfield, Colo.-based Community Financial CU has $236 million in assets.
Warren branches in Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyo., and in Northern Colorado, will be re-branded with the new Blue logo beginning in early May. Branches that compose the current network of Community Financial in Broomfield and Boulder, Colo., will be updated to reflect the "bright, modern look that characterizes Blue Federal Credit Union," the two parties said in a statement.
Both credit unions noted they were established on a foundation of public service and said their ties to the community and their commitment to building lifelong member relationships will remain as cornerstones of Blue.
The process of selecting a name that would define the organization was undertaken by executive leaders of both credit unions late in 2015, and included interviews with members and staff, as well as a comprehensive overview of the geographic makeup of the merging credit unions.
Stephanie Teubner, CEO of Warren FCU, and of Blue FCU, said she believes the name connects the two organizations and speaks to their shared history in the West and their commitment to member relationships.
"Blue is the unifying color of the two organizations, and was used in each group's previous logos," she explained. "To us, it speaks to aspirational thinking, and represents the ascending mountains and endless skies of the places we call home."
According to Teubner, it was important the name, "also captured the confidence and trust our members have placed in us as well as the unwavering optimism we feel as organizations going into the merger. As we maintain our strong position in Wyoming and emerge as a leader in Northern Colorado, it's important for Blue to establish and maintain an iconic presence."
Warren and CFCU said they will be releasing additional information to members in the coming months as Blue takes shape. They created a special web page at www.WarrenFCU.com/merger.
