Wash. Foundation Wins $57K Grant For Program

The Washington Credit Union Foundation (WCUF) has been approved for a $57,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to extend the activity of Washington State's Economic Power Project, which provides financial education and access to financial services to the unbanked or underserved populations.

The USDA grant award was part of a "super-application" achieved through collaboration with the Northwest Center for Cooperative Development, Olympia, Wash.

"The project's current targeted population in Washington is the underserved Hispanic community," according the WCUL's RoxAnne Kruger-Monahan. "This additional funding will enable us to extend the program to low to moderate-income individuals, regardless of ethnicity."
