"To capitalize on negative consumer sentiment about bank losses and federal bailouts, we came up with what we thought was a great ad. 'Spank Your Bank' was the message with the intention of getting consumers to move from a bank to a CU. Management had no idea the term 'spank' had a sexual connotation until a helpful, young staff person gave us that insight after seeing it run. Needless to say, we immediately stopped using that phrase and now Google draft ad text to see if there are 'other' modern meanings."
