Navy Army OK'd For Big FOM
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas-The Texas CU Department has approved the $1.4-billion Navy Army Community CU, one of the biggest conversions ever to state charter, to serve 1.2-million residents in surrounding Hidalgo and Cameron counties.
Minnesota Leaders Are Recognized
BLOOMINGTON, Minn.-The Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) has named Yvonne Condell of Affinity Plus FCU as its Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer of the Year and Dick Nesvold, CEO of SouthPoint FCU, as its Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year. Condell, a professor at Minnesota State University, was recognized for 16 years of servie, including work for the Affinity Plus Foundation and to promote financial literacy. Nesvold was recognized for his leadership and overseeing strong growth, and for his work on Credit Unions for Kids and Kids Against Hunger, along with work with CUs in Paraguay.
Savings To Illinois CUs Hit $11M
NAPERVILLE, Ill.-The Illinois CU League is reporting that the partial credit state chartered CUs in Illinois are seeing on their April 2012 Q1 regulatory fee invoice now brings to $11 million the aggregate savings that followed litigation the league filed against the state eight years ago. That figure represents an initial cash settlement of $6.2 million, the regulatory fee holidays or credits realized in four of the past 12 quarters totaling $2.7 million, and a rate reduction of $2.1 million in regulatory fees paid to the DFI since the settlement was reached, the league said. The settlement followed a court ruling that previous fees had been overcharged by the state.
Rosen Named CEO At Hawaii State
HONOLULU-The $1.3-billion Hawaii State FCU has named Andrew Rosen as its new president CEO. Rosen has served in executive capacities Washington Mutual, Regions Financial Corp., Central Pacific Bank, as well as Bank of Hawaii, and was most recently at San Francisco-based Bank of the West, where he served as chief marketing officer.
Budet Elected To CUNA Board
MADISON, Wis.--Tony C. Budet, president of University FCU, Austin, Texas, has been elected to the open CUNA Board seat in District 5, Class 5. The seat was vacated when Harriet May, former CUNA Board chairman and former CEO of GECU, El Paso, Texas, retired.

BAY CITY, Mich.-Access First CU is being absorbed via merger by United Bay Community CU, creating a $200-million institution. AFCU CEO Rob Viland will become EVP/COO of UBCCU.
