Beacon Taps McAdoo As New CEO
LAPORTE, Texas–The $90-million Beacon FCU has named Jack V. McAdoo as its new CEO. McAdoo has previously served as the CEO of StarTrust FCU for 11 years, during which he oversaw growth to $100 million in assets from $21 million.
Realtor Success DVD Now Offered
LAS VEGAS–The American Credit Union Mortgage Association has begun distributing its “Strategies for Realtor Success” DVD. The eight-minute DVD was edited from a breakout panel session held during the annual conference of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in Orlando. “The ACUMA session at the NAR was to inform realtors that credit unions are a viable alternative for mortgage loans for their clients,” said Bob Dorsa, ACUMA president. The panel included Bill Tessier of Navy FCU, Shannon VanSickler of Bellco CU, Joe Brancucci of BECU and Chris Pauling of Realtor/Broker/Owner.

Apple FCU A Helios Apollo Finalist
FAIRFAX, Va.–Apple FCU has been named as one of seven finalists for the 2008 Helios Apollo Award among mid-sized companies from Helios HRSM, the Society for Human Resource Management, and SmartCEO magazine. The Helios Apollo Awards recognize Washington-area organizations that promote a value-added, on-going learning environment within their organization to benefit employees. The winner will be announced on June 6.
UNFCU Donates $20K To Sekolo
LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y.–United Nations FCU has donated $20,000 to Sekolo Projects, Inc., to provide HIV prevention education, physical care and psychosocial support for young people in Namibia, where as much as 40% of the people in various regions of the country is known to be infected, the credit union said. UNFCUs support will specifically assist Sekolos transition to a Namibian-led organization, establishing and training local management to ensure the long-term sustainability of Sekolos work.
