VERNON HILLS, Ill.-BCU has been named to the Center for Companies That Care (CTC) Honor Roll for the ninth consecutive year. Center for Companies That Care recognizes employers for outstanding workplace practices and active community involvement.

Telcom CU Has A New Vibe

NOVI, Mich.-Telcom CU, a one-time telephone workers credit union, has changed its name to Vibe CU, incorporating a modern version of the $425-million credit union's historical roots in telecommunications.

League, Service Corp Rate Highly

NAPERVILLE, Ill.--The Illinois league and ICUL Service Corp. reported they received a 95% approval rating in the CUNA member satisfaction survey conducted at the end of 2012.

NCUA Bans 4 Ex-CU Folks

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has issued prohibition orders to four people: Holly Cowan, a former employee of Lawrence County School ECU in New Castle, Penn., who pleaded guilty to the charge of embezzlement and income tax evasion; Lisa Hood, a former employee of FCU in Columbia, S.C., who was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of probation on charges of financial identity fraud and other crimes; Crystal J. Lankford, a former employee of H.B.E. CU in Seward, Neb., who pleaded guilty to the charge of embezzlement, and Keiona Rutledge, a former employee of G.I.C. FCU in Cleveland, who pleaded guilty to the charges of trafficking and possessing criminal tools.

Tomalin Named CUNA EVP/COO

MADISON, Wis.-Jill Tomalin has been promoted to EVP/COO at CUNA Madison. Tomalin succeeds John Franklin, who retired last month. Tomalin will oversee CUNA's Center for Professional Development (CPD, the training and development arm of CUNA), information technology, the CUNA Councils, meetings and conferences, vendor sales, and CUNA Strategic Services. Tomalin joined CUNA in 2000.

White Paper Examines Training

MADISON, Wis.-A new white paper from the CUNA HR/TD Council has been released that examines the benefits of mixing delivery methods, formats, activities, and learner assessments to deliver the best training possible for staff, management, and members. Titled "Finding the Right Blend: Learning Solutions for Credit Unions," the paper features suggestions from several professionals, including executing the "buy-in cycle."

CMBDC Names Executive Council

MADISON, Wis.-Elected to the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council executive committee were: chairman, Michelle Hunter, SVP with Credit Union of Southern California; vice chair, Kathryn Davis, SVP with Xceed Financial CU, and secretary/treasurer, Andy Reed of American Airlines FCU. Newly elected to the exec committee is Jason Lindstrom, CMO with Belvoir FCU.

More CUs Enter Into Mergers

PRENTICE, Wis.-The $31-million Price CU here is being absorbed via merger by $227-million Heritage CU. In Worcester, Mass., $257-million Allcom CU is absorbing $6.5-million Worcester Postal Credit Union.

New CEOs: Halter, Ciambriello, Harris

ATLANTA-The $4.2-billion Delta Community Credit Union has named Hank Halter as its new president and CEO, a capcity in which Halter had been serving on an interim basis. Halter had previously worked as CFO at Delta Air Lines from 1998-2012 and has also held positions with American Airlines and Ernst & Young. In Stratford, Conn., Sikorsky Financial CU has named Vincent Ciambriello, acting CEO for the past year, as permanent CEO of the $680-million credit union. In Baton Rouge, La., John Milazzo, long-time CEO of $500-million Campus FCU, said he will retire at year-end and will be succeeded by COO Dawn Harris.

40 Attend Strategies Conference

GREENSBORO, N.C.-First Carolina Corporate CU drew more than 40 people from 22 CUs to its Financial Strategies Conference here, where the focus was on net interest margins. "With many challenges impacting today's credit unions, the focus on economic updates, investment and ALM strategies provided participants with timely, valuable insights to help their credit unions succeed," said Wanda Downs, director of CU Development and Marketing.

Call Center Keeps Expanding

PENSACOLA, Fla.-Navy FCU is said it is expanding its huge call center here and will be hiring around 1,500 employees here later this year. The expansion is part of the $54 billion credit union's long-term growth plans that was announced last year, when it bought 240 acres adjacent to its 65-acre call center campus. The 1,500 new jobs are expected to have an average annual salary of $44,082.

The call center, the world's largest credit union facility, already employs 2,500 workers.
