WASHINGTON–Video showing the groundbreakings for the two “Homes for Our Troops” homes being supported by CUNA can now be seen at www.cuna.org/initiatives/homesforourtroops/index.html. CUNA, along with the National Journal Group and the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, is jointly sponsoring homes for two wounded and disabled U.S. servicemen–one home in St. Paul, Minn., the other in Denver, Colo., the venues of the national political conventions.
PSCU Offers Storm Line Of Credit
DENVER–Public Service Credit Union offered a $5,000 line of credit at a discounted APR to members in Weld and Larimer counties in Colorado affected by the storms in the area. In addition, it also donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross Northern Colorado Relief Fund.
CU Yacht Crew Raises $7,100
TORRANCE, Calif.–A yacht captained and crewed by a team made up of credit union representatives in the annual Newport, Calif. to Ensenada Mexico Yacht Race has raised $7,100 for the RMJ Foundation. Led by Jim Updike, CEO of Honda FCU, the team finished the 500-mile race in 42 hours.
Wegner Awards Deadline Is Near
WASHINGTON–The deadline is fast approaching to nominate someone for the credit union movement’s highest honor, the Herb Wegner Awards. Sponsored by the National Credit Union Foundation, nominations are now being accepted for the Individual Achievement Award, the Outstanding Organization/Program Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

ACUMA To Host Leadership Mtg
LAS VEGAS–ACUMA will host its Fall Leadership Conference in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace Oct. 8-10. In addition to its usual educational line up, President Bob Dorsa noted there will be golf at the Badlands Club and seats have been reserved for Bette Midler’s show at Caesar’s Palace Coliseum Oct. 9.
