Former Missouri CUL CEO Dies
ST. LOUIS-Robert Hood, the long-time former president of the Missouri CU League (now the Missouri CU Association), has died. Hood, who was 77, had been battling cancer prior to his death. He is survived by his wife, Mary.
Ore., Texas CULs Boost PACs
BEAVERTON, Ore.-Following a July 1 kickoff of Project Participation 2004 Credit Union Legislative Action Council Month, Oregon's CUs have raised more than $28,900. That represents 1,561 individuals participating from 38 credit unions, the Credit Union Association of Oregon (CUAO), CUNA Mutual, and Poorman-Douglas Corp. The original goal was to raise $20,000. Separately, the Texas league has added the ability to make donations electronically to its PAC via its website at www.tcul.coop. The league noted that while it raised a record $200,000 for its TCUL PAC this year, Texas' bankers donated more than $1 million to federal and state candidates over the same period.
Michaelis Recognized By WCUL
VANCOUVER, Wash.-Roger Michaelis, president of iQ Credit Union, was named the Distinguished Credit Union Professional of the Year by the Washingtonleague at its annual meting. Michaelis was recognized for his efforts in co-chairing the Credit Union for Kids campaign and rebranding and overseeing growth at iQ CU.
Regulator David Paul To Retire
DENVER-Colorado credit union regulator David Paul plans to retire effective Oct. 29. Paul, 55, has overseen the state's credit unions for the past 16 years and has worked with the Department of Regulatory Agencies for the past 27 years. Paul, who was active with NASCUS during his career, was recognized by the trade association during its recent meetings for his contributions.
Altura's McManuis Is Honored
RIVERSIDE, Calif.- Richonette "Ricki" McManuis, senior VP-marketing and business development, for Altura Credit Union, was recognized as a "Woman of Achievement" by the YWCA of Riverside County at its 2004 Women of Achievement Awards Luncheon.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-Stampers FCU has received federal approval to change its charter to serve anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Kent County, Mich. The community charter is the first for Grand Rapids. The $70-million CU has 13,500 members.
