PCUA
Pennsylvania credit unions, the Democratic National Convention Committee and RealClearPolitics broke ground on a Health and Wellness Garden at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pediatric Care Center.
City County
City & County CU, St. Paul, Minn., used a grant from the Minnesota CU Foundation to launch Money on the Bookshelf. Inspired by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension program, Money on the Bookshelf is a free financial literacy program.
First Family
First Family FCU, Henryetta, Okla., celebrated a ribbon-cutting for a new building at its Okmulgee location. The Okmulgee team moved from a 1,200-square-foot building to one that is approximately 3,300 square feet, featuring a "lodge style" design.
York Chapter
In York, Pa., the York Chapter of Credit Unions announced the winners of its 2016 college scholarship contest: Stephanie Leedom and Andrew White each received $500 toward their first year of schooling.
Firefly
Firefly CU, Burnsville, Minn., hosted DECA students from Burnsville High School at its monthly board meeting. The students spoke about their involvement thus far in helping plan the in-school Firefly Credit Union branch, which is slated to open during the 2016-17 school year.
Vantage
Vantage CU, Bridgeton, Mo., served as a sponsor of Money Smart Week, a public awareness campaign created by the Federal Reserve, and it co-sponsored the Money Smart Kid Essay Contest, with winner Brian Faintich receiving a $500 scholarship.
Pelican State
Pelican State CU, Baton Rouge, La., gave away 152 prizes and $1,495 in cash at the Denham Springs Antique Village Spring Festival.
Holy Rosary
Holy Rosary CU, Rochester, N.H., visited elementary students across Strafford County for an entire month to donate a total of 260 financial literacy books to 19 public and private schools.
Firstmark
In San Antonio, Firstmark CU's 2016 Credit Unions for Kids Fiesta medal was selected by the San Antonio Express News as the winner in the nonprofit category. More than 300 medals were submitted to compete for top honors in 20 categories for both individuals and organizations.
DuGood
DuGood FCU, Beaumont, Texas, awarded eight $500 scholarships to students who created a video highlighting the benefits of credit union membership.
Education First
Education First CU, Westerville, Ohio, received the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award, recognizing leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of youth financial literacy.
Advantage One
Advantage One FCU, Brownstown, Mich., presented 3 local students with $1,500 academic scholarships. Recipients were selected based on an essay competition with consideration given to their academic accomplishments and participation in school and community activities.
