SPIRE

A group of employees from SPIRE CU, Falcon Heights, Minn., picked up litter along a two-mile stretch of Highway 23. SPIRE has supported Adopt-A-Highway for 25 years, with the first cleanup on June 4, 1991. Separately, the CU awarded scholarships in the amount of $500 each to two members, and employees prepared the Veterans' Memorial Garden in Oakwood Cemetery for the Memorial Day service.

For the 10th year, Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based Carolina Trust FCU and Horry Telephone Cooperative chose two graduating high school seniors to win $1,000 each in scholarships. The scholarships may be renewed for an additional three years in the amount of $500 per year.

NuVision FCU, Huntington Beach, Calif., announced the winners of its first annual Think.Tank.Challenge., an educational essay contest with $20,000 in prize money awarded to local high school students and schools. Stefan, a student at Schurr HS in Montebello, won $5,000 as the 1st Place winner, and his school received a check for $3,600.
