Celebrating 25 Years of Adopt-A-Highway: Credit Unions in the Community

SPIRE
A group of employees from SPIRE CU, Falcon Heights, Minn., picked up litter along a two-mile stretch of Highway 23. SPIRE has supported Adopt-A-Highway for 25 years, with the first cleanup on June 4, 1991. Separately, the CU awarded scholarships in the amount of $500 each to two members, and employees prepared the Veterans' Memorial Garden in Oakwood Cemetery for the Memorial Day service.
Scott
Employees of Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., raised more than $1,000 during a fund drive to support the Illinois Center for Autism during Autism Awareness Month.
Carolina Trust
For the 10th year, Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based Carolina Trust FCU and Horry Telephone Cooperative chose two graduating high school seniors to win $1,000 each in scholarships. The scholarships may be renewed for an additional three years in the amount of $500 per year.
Allegacy
Allegacy FCU, Winston-Salem, N.C., was named Best in Class during the Triad's Healthiest Employers awards program sponsored by The Business Journal. Allegacy was one of five finalists in the 300 - 999 employee category.
OMNI
In preparation for the launch of its new brand, OMNI Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., hosted several team building activities, including building bikes for a community cause.
Clearview
Employees of Clearview FCU, Moon Township, Pa., formed a team with their family members and participated in the Beaver County March for Babies event. Clearview also collected employee donations during a paid casual day, adding nearly $700 to the donation total.
Andrews
Andrews FCU, Suitland, Md., served as a sponsor for the 2016 Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst "Power in the Pines" Air Show. The show hosted approximately 375,000 people from throughout the tri-state area.
NuVision
NuVision FCU, Huntington Beach, Calif., announced the winners of its first annual Think.Tank.Challenge., an educational essay contest with $20,000 in prize money awarded to local high school students and schools. Stefan, a student at Schurr HS in Montebello, won $5,000 as the 1st Place winner, and his school received a check for $3,600.
Americas Christian
In Glendora, Calif., America's Christian CU, in partnership with Project Glendora Yellow Ribbon and Project Chaos, hosted the third annual Patriot Week, which celebrates, honors and supports the U.S. military, veterans, first responders and their families.
Peach State
Peach State FCU, Lawrenceville, Ga., awarded more than $149,000 in scholarships and educational grants, designed to honor the credit union's founders, as well as past and present board members and employees.
