Lego League
Suffolk FCU, Medford, N.Y., sponsored the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County LEGO League Junior Robotics Team. In LEGO League, Girl Scout teams participate in robotic competitions by building mechanical robots out of LEGOs that must solve a real-world problem linked to a particular theme.

Zeal breaks some records
Zeal CU, Livonia, Mich., sponsored the Incredible Science Machine team’s record-breaking domino attempt. The display took a team of 19 domino artists a full week to make, and came down in just over 15 minutes. The “Game On!” theme featured dominoes arranged as video games, board games and a variety of sports. Three new U.S. records were set: most dominoes toppled (245,732), largest domino field (12,450) and largest domino structure (12,780).

Building future business leaders
Jacksonville, Fla.-based First Florida CU committed $250,000 to Florida State College at Jacksonville to support initiatives designed to help local students and community members become future business leaders.

SECU's big ribbon cutting
Raleigh, N.C.-based State Employees’ CU and its SECU Foundation hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin, the first inpatient hospice facility in Yadkin County. Separately, SECU debuted its Estate Planning Essentials Program.

Relocation agreement
CFCU Community CU, Ithaca, N.Y., reached agreement with Ithaca Renting Company to locate its administrative headquarters and a retail branch at the Bank Tower Building on the Ithaca Commons. The building was originally home to the First National Bank of Ithaca.

Alzheimer's donation
The employees of South Jersey FCU, Deptford, N.J., donated $2,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association. The donation was made on behalf of SJFCU employees’ “Charitable Journey” program and will be used for Alzheimer’s research and services in the Delaware Valley.

A boost for the Boys & Girls Club
Langley FCU, Newport News, Va., donated $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia. The donation will support the organization’s many programs that provide the skills and encouragement youth need to become responsible, caring citizens.

Hanscom FCU goes back to school to benefit the less fortunate
The branches of Hanscom FCU, Hanscom AFB, Mass., hosted Tuck the Bear for a week-long visit in support of a unique back-to-school readiness program. Tuck is the mascot for A Bed for Every Child, an initiative to provide new beds to children who do not have one. It is the brainchild of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, a Hanscom FCU charity of choice.

Dressing for success
The Global Women’s Leadership Network Pennsylvania Sister Society’s Community Committee gathered a group of credit union women and men to volunteer at Dress for Success. Thirty representatives from credit unions and CU organizations across Pennsylvania helped load, sort and organize clothing, as well as paint and clean one of the Dress for Success offices.
