Charter Oak FCU now offers local non-profits free meeting space in its new Community Room, located within its newly opened headquarters in Waterford, Conn.
Riverdale, Utah-based America First CU hosted a grand opening celebration at its newest location in Tooele, Utah, the CU's the fourth branch opening of 2014 and the 107th location servicing Utah and Southern Nevada.
Dozens of children living in local shelters got to pick out their very own backpack filled with school supplies, all donated from the team members at Arrowhead CU, San Bernardino, Calif.
Georgia United CU, Duluth, Ga., provided its first School Crashers Makeover for Chapel Hill Elementary School in Decatur. Professional crew leaders installed carpet, painted murals in the cafeteria, installed landscaping and benches, repaired and replaced entrance signage, and painted. The CU also named four schools that received $5,000 grants, and one that got a $10,000 grant, as runners-up.
Hanscom FCU, Hanscom AFB, Mass., joined the Red Sox Class A affiliate Lowell Spinners to honor its second Hero Among Us this summer: Cody Westbrook, a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. Separately, the CU once again served as primary sponsor of the Patriot Honor Guard's Appreciation Banquet.
The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions held its TopGolf Tournament with 80 participants, including players from CUs in three chapters (Houston, Sabine, Gulf Coast).
Jeanne D'Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., donated $1,500 to the winner of its latest "Give a Click" campaign: Operation Delta Dog. The nonprofit trains shelter dogs to become service animals for veterans.

Patelco CU, Pleasanton, Calif., thanked a local Marine for his service by donating a custom-built playhouse. Marine Corporal Preston Barker and his son Ezekiel received the playhouse, built by more than 20 Patelco employees in partnership with Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley's Playhouse Program.
