Community News: Showing Appreciation for Law Enforcement

With all the recent negative publicity police departments around the country have been receiving, the board, staff and members of New Dimensions CU in Waterville, Maine, felt it was important to acknowledge and show their appreciation for members of law enforcement.
Macon, Ga.-based MidSouth Community FCU's Milledgeville Branch Manager Ginger Lasseter presented a donation to the American Cancer Society.
Jeanne D'Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., served as the Diamond Sponsor of Catie's Closet Annual Gala, which provides children and teens with warm clothing and basic necessities.
The Credit Union Association of the Dakotas was the presenting sponsor of the Children's Miracle Network "Hours of Hope" Radiothon in Bismarck, N.D. In addition, CUAD's Pee Wee Penguin Youth Savers Club won two national credit union association awards.
Members 1st FCU, Mechanicsburg, Pa., donated $5,000 to the Bosler Memorial Library as part of an annual contribution to assist with renovation and supporting youth reading programs in Carlisle.
Merck Sharp & Dohme FCU, Chalfont, Pa., presented Hoffman Memorial Awards to five high school seniors recognized for being active in their community and representing the "people helping people" philosophy.
The members and staff of New England FCU, Williston, Vt., contributed a record-breaking donation of $27,058 to the University of Vermont Children's Hospital, part of the Children's Miracle Network, through the CU's annual Big Change Roundup.
Centris FCU, Omaha, Neb., said the winners of its third annual "Mortgage Giveaway" contest are John and Sandy LaRocca, who will have their mortgage paid by Centris throughout 2015.
