Representatives from the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) traveled to Paraguay to recognize the 20th anniversary of Central de Cooperativas del Area Nacional Ltda.
Advia CU, Janesville, Wis., held scholarship receptions in each of its four regions to award 30 high school seniors with a $500 scholarship.
Francisco Varela won $500 from Altura CU, Riverside, Calif., for using his Altura Visa debit card to make a purchase.
Trico Community FCU, Helena, Mont., is a corporate sponsor for Shodair Hospital, part of the Children's Miracle Network, through a debit card campaign. Trico will donate 1¢ to CMN every time members swipe their Trico debit card to make a purchase in 2014, and CO-OP Financial Services will do a partial match.
Summit CU, Madison, Wis., awarded three $1,500 scholarships and one $2,500 scholarship at its annual membership meeting, including one to Samantha Johnson.
The Weirton-Wellsburg Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a "Senior Prom" at Serra Village Retirement Community for the residents. The Weirton-Wellsburg Chapter consists of: Eagle Can Employees FCU, First Choice America Community FCU, Hancock School Employees FCU, Strip Steel Community FCU and Tin Mill Employees FCU.
Greater Pittsburgh Police FCU brought the sun and sand indoors for National Credit Union Youth Week. It buried prizes in the sand for the youth that came in and made deposits or opened an account.
AMOCO FCU and City of Nassau Bay, Texas, hosted a joint ribbon cutting to celebrate the new branch and the new city hall building.
In Parsippany, N.J., Garden Savings FCU was named the 2014 Corporate Partner of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Morris, Bergen, Passaic and Sussex.
America First CU, Riverdale, Utah, participated in the seventh annual West Haven Elementary Hawk Walk, contributing $2,500 to the total of $6,637.05 collected by the students. Since its inception in 2007, the Hawk Walk has raised more than $41,058.05 for the American Cancer Society.
In Philadelphia, American Heritage FCU and 98.1 WOGL held their Annual Car Show, Craft Show and Member Appreciation Day. The event raised more than $10,000 for the CU's Kids-N-Hope Foundation, which supports the Music Therapy Program at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Meritrust CU celebrated the ground breaking of a new branch in north Wichita, Kan. The new Lakeside at the Moorings branch is scheduled for a late 2014 opening and will replace an existing branch in the Twin Lakes area.
Genisys CU, Auburn Hills, Mich., joined forces with local branch 320 of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Rite-Aid and the Oakland County Sheriff's Department to support Feeding America and help Stamp Out Hunger across America.
The We Promise Foundation, the charitable arm of Chartway FCU, Virginia Beach, Va., gave $43,500 to EQUI-KIDS to fully fund its scholarship program for 40 children with disabilities, enabling them to benefit from equine-assisted therapeutic riding lessons.
Alabama State Employees CU, Montgomery, Ala., established its scholarship program in 2013, and made its first two awards this year, to Patty Holley and Hayden Willis.
Georgia Heritage FCU, Savannah, Ga., named the recipients of two college scholarships for 2014: $2,000 to Sydney Rushing, and $1,000 to Brittany DeLettre.
Atomic CU, Pikeville, Ohio, opened its 12th branch in Oak Hill, located at 107 North Jackson Street.
Army Aviation Center FCU, Daleville, Ala., donated $15,931 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: employees and members raised $10,931 and AACFCU donated an additional $5,000. In addition, AACFCU employees and their family members volunteered 139 hours in their communities at many different events.
