Greater Alliance FCU, Paramus, N.J., raised $3,000 for the American Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Walk.
CFE FCU, Lake Mary, Fla., awarded the $500 CFE Hero Award for 2012 to Dr. Thomas Dorsey, in recognition of his program to teach minority and inner-city youth the game of golf. In other news, the CU also donated gifts for 50 foster children in the child welfare services of Central Florida.
Los Angeles FCU collected 468 toys for the Toys for Tots program. Separately, CU employees volunteered to assemble food crates at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
Tech CU, Crown Point, Ind., donated toys, gifts and clothing for the Carmelite Home in East Chicago, Ind.
Arrowhead CU, San Bernardino, Calif., delivered gifts for 73 local homeless children.
First Service CU, Houston, donated $12,562.34 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
MSU FCU, East Lansing, Mich., teamed up with Michigan State University's University Housing, Child and Family Charities and Auburn Hills Firefighters Helping Hands for its 2012 Giving Tree. Separately, the CU said Polina Naumova won a $7,500 Classic Travel vacation package and Michael Huschke won a $7,500 gift card to Wheat Jewelers as part of the CU's 75th Anniversary celebration contest. The CU also opened a new branch in the Sparrow Professional Building in Lansing, and made a $1-million donation to the MSU College of Music for the MSU Federal Credit Union Jazz Studies Guest Artist Residency Endowment.
South Jersey FCU, Deptford, N.J., donated more than two dozen winter coats to Camden Education Association's 5th Annual Coat Drive.
Golden 1 CU, Sacramento, Calif., collected nearly 4,250 pounds of food and household necessities, plus $52,500 in monetary donations for 15 regional food banks.
TruMark Financial CU, Trevose, Penn., donated 670 pounds of food to the Food & Nutrition Network of the Bucks County Opportunity Council. In other news the CU also raised $760 for the Lupus Foundation of America and participated in the Future Business Leaders Association Region 12 Leadership Conference and Competition.
Local Government FCU, Raleigh, N.C., donated clothes, toys and other essentials to two families the CU adopted as part of its Holiday Cheer Program.
Redwood CU, Santa Rosa, Calif., provided $7,787 to the American Red Cross' Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
The 100% for Kids CU Education Foundation, Salt Lake City, awarded more than $58,000 in grants to Utah schools during 2012.
USFCU, Burnsville, Minn., teamed up with Southern Anoka Community Assistance to participate in a holiday toy drive.
Allegany County Teachers FCU, Chessie FCU, HEALTHCARE 1st FCU, Potomac FCU, SECU of Maryland and Wepco FCU, along with the Maryland and District of Columbia CU Association held a Reality Fair for Allegany County high school students.
Singing River FCU, Moss Point, Miss., donated $1,640 to Our Daily Bread as part of its Christmas loan program.
WestStar CU, Las Vegas, donated $16,000 to the Opportunity Village's Mile of Smiles fundraising campaign.
Dover, Del., donated $400 to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. In other news, the CU participated in Operation Cookie Drop, which delivers baked goods to troops at the Dover Air Force Base.
OMNI Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., made a $5,000 grant to S.A.F.E Place, $2,000 to Parent to Parent of SW Michigan and $3,000 to Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services.
South Bay CU, Redondo Beach, Calif., served as drop-off site for Cheer for Children, collecting unwrapped toys.
