TruMark Financial CU, Trevose, Pa., raised $725 for the Lupus Foundation of America.
Greater TEXAS FCU, Austin, Texas, held a Meet Santa event at its branch. In other news, the CU also raised $1,716.61 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Northwest FCU, Herndon, Va., raised $10453 to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
First Capital CU, York, Pa., held a basket raffle that raised more than $1,000 for the Lehman Center, a "crisis nursery." Separately, the CU also participated in Toys for Tots, collected cold-weather gear for needy children and donated food to the York County Food Bank.
Chartway FCU, Virginia Beach, Va., said its We Promise Foundation made grants to 16 charitable organizations totaling $924,300 during 2013. Among the different projects the foundation undertook was building a playground for a young cancer survivor, shown above.
Seasons FCU, Middletown, Conn., participated in Movember, a month-long charity aimed at raising funds and awareness of men's health issues.
Three CUSOs participated in a contest to see which one could collect the most food items for their local food pantries. CU Companies, New Brighton, Minn., beat out CU Alliance of Texas and CU Community of Tennessee.
Wisconsin CU League, Madison, Wis., said the state's credit unions won the Friend of Small Business Award from Wisconsin Business Development.
Commonwealth CU, Frankfort, Ky., collected 1,230 pounds of food for those in need. In other news, the CU helped raise money for Kentucky Educational Television and raised more than $15,000 for the Daniel's Care Program of Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Texas Trust CU, Mansfield, Texas, celebrated the grand opening of its new branch in Arlington, Texas. In other news, the CU also donated $10,000 to Girls Incorporated and $5,000 to Toys for Tots.
Georgia United CU, Duluth, Ga., held its 24th Annual Wish Tree program to collect toys and clothing for local foster children.
Andrews FCU, Suitland, Md., held a food drive to assist families in need during the holidays.
Catholic FCU, Saginaw, Mich., hosted a hat and glove drive that brought in more than 250 hats and gloves to be distributed to shelters in the Bay City and Saginaw areas.
St. Lawrence FCU,Ogdensburg, N.Y., donated $5,000 to the St. Lawrence County Fire Training Facility, the last of a threeyear, $15,000 pledge to help build a new training facility.
Public Service CU, Romulus, Mich., said C.H.A.I.N.E.D., a local animal charity, won a $500 donation from the CU as part of its Facebook charity contest.
SIU CU, Carbondale, Ill., offered a free hot lunch and care packages for local residents affected by a tornado that damaged 48 homes.
Share Advantage CU, Duluth, Minn., held its 5th annual barbecue and bake sale benefiting Hunger Action Awareness, raising $1,780 for the charity.
Numerica CU, Spokane, Wash., donated $5,000 to support Tom's Turkey Drive and CU employees also contributed more than 220 volunteer hours to support the food drive.
