GCS CU awarded a $1,500 Nicole R. Thorp Scholarship to Megan Votoupal of Collinsville High School. The scholarship benefits students who actively volunteer in the community.
Georgia United CU, Athens, Ga., recognized Audrey Hughes as the grand prize winner of the CU's "Teachers Make A Difference" award winners. The award is also sponsored by Star 94 Radio. This is the second year that educational CUs and the metro Atlanta radio station have partnered to reward teachers.

IC FCU, Fitchburg, Mass., held a helmet safety day in collaboration with the Ryan Joubert Memorial Foundation and the Fitchburg Police Department. More than 100 helmets were distributed, and the CU also held a car wash that raised $275 to support the foundation.
American Heritage FCU, Philadelphia, Penn., collected first aid supplies such as bandages, ointment and soap for the Busia Compassionate center, located in rural Western Kenya.
First Capital FCU, York, Penn., participated in the Pennsylvania CU Association's 37th annual Youth Ambassador of Pennsylvania contest, with 14 young CU members and employees from age 18-25 competing for the title of "2013 Youth Ambassador." Olivia McClure, seen here, was the representative for the York Chapter of CUs.
Georgia Heritage FCU, Pooler, Ga., held a free seminar on the "ins and outs" of today's housing market. The event was open both to members and the general public.
A.J. Howard, along with Devona Holmes (not pictured) won a $1,000 KEY Scholarship Award from Carolina Trust FCU, Horry Telephone Cooperative, Inc., and 104.9 BOB FM. If the students meet qualifying criteria, including GPA requirements and full-time enrollment, the scholarships may be renewed in the amount of $500 per year for three years.
Bethpage FCU, Bethpage, N.Y., hosted the 10th anniversary 2013 Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach during Memorial Day weekend.
Ent FCU, Colorado Springs, Colo., awarded a total of $51,000 to 18 regional organizations as part of its Youth Endowment Series (YES) program grants for 2013. Some of the recipient organizations included TESSA, Partners in Housing, Newborn Hope Inc., and more.
Nearly 80 San Francisco FCU employees participated in a two-day park clean-up partnership with the San Francisco Parks Alliance, cleaning Raymond Kimbell Playground and Buchanan Street Mall playgrounds. This was the largest cleanup event the CU has participated in, with record numbers of staff and management participating.
Altura CU, Riverside, Calif., presented a check for $10,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts for victims of the tornado that devastated Moore, Okla. on May 20.

MAX CU, Montgomery, Ala., and the Montgomery Clean City Commission recognized winners in the 15th annual Funky Junk Art Contest, which drew more than 75 pieces of art, including the one seen here.
Great Lakes CU, Gurnee, Ill., celebrated National CU Youth Week with a "Stache Your Cash" theme, drawing in a record 2,109 youth deposits totaling more than $388,000.
Municipal CU, New York City, awarded $66,000 in scholarships to college-bound graduating high school seniors. The CU awarded eight $5,000 grants and 13 grants for $2,000. CEO Kam Wong presented the awards at a special ceremony at the CU's headquarters.
Affinity FCU, Tom's River, N.J., held its second wave of fundraising by employees to donate to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The CU collected food, bleach, pillows, blankets and more, along with presenting a check to the People's Pantry for $1,438. In December 2012 the CU raised more than $1,800 in relief efforts.
First Financial FCU, Wall, N.J., honored board chair Mary Tilton for her 30 years of service to the credit union.
A team from Meriwest CU raised nearly $2,700 as part of a walk to end muscular dystrophy.
