Heritage Family CU CEO/President Ronald Hance was honored at the statehouse in Montpelier, Vt., for his 38 years of service to the credit union movement.
Freedom CU, Warminster, Pa., and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) recognized exemplary educators in Montgomery County with the Voices of Inspiration Awards for Teaching Excellence. Twenty-three Finalists were honored.
Merrimack Valley CU, Haverhill, Mass., gave a free tank of gas to 265 drivers at Haffner's Gas Station to promote the credit union and its services.
St. Mary's Bank, Manchester, N.H. donated $25,000 to The Palace Theatre: $10,000 for the theatre's Second Century Campaign designed to fund its capital improvements, while the remaining $15,000 will help fund "Angel Tickets" for the Palace Theatre's school matinee program for the next three years.

Downey FCU hosted a food packing event in conjunction with its annual meeting. Along with more than 80 volunteers from all over the community, DFCU employees packaged 27,000 meals. All food packaged that evening was donated to local food banks PTA H.E.L.P.S. and FoodHelp, a food bank ministry hosted by Downey First Christian Church.
April showers brought May flowers to branches of Central Macomb Community CU, Clinton Township, Mich., which displayed art from four local schools. Pictured is art from L'Anse Creuse Middle School-North is displayed. Susan Smyk, the art teacher, had students create Georgia O'Keeffe-style pastels.
SECU Foundation officials and State Employees' CU volunteers and staff recently attended the groundbreaking of the new Inter-Faith Council at SECU Community House in Chapel Hill, N.C. In partnership with Inter-Faith Council (IFC) for Social Service, SECU members provided a $1 million grant for construction.
Educational CU, Topeka, Kan., recognized three finalists for Teacher Appreciation Week. The public chose Brandon Evans as its favorite story. Evans received an iPad Mini courtesy of the CU. The other two finalists, Diane Kimsey and Mrs. Nicole Meier were recognized for being Teachers Who Make A Difference. Each received a certificate of appreciation, complimentary goodie bags, and $50 Visa gift cards.
The Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency, in partnership with Gerber FCUs (Freemont, Mich.) student run branch, held a Youth Financial Literacy Fair titled "Buck Dynasty: How to Get More Bang for Your Buck." Gerber FCU also hosted a Bring Your Child to Work Day.
Eagle Community CU, Lake Forest, Calif., supported the 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This was the sixth year that Eagle Community CU sponsored and provided blue food bags for the mail carriers to distribute.
Consumers CU, Kalamazoo, Mich. received an Elite Award at the annual West Michigan's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For luncheon. The credit union received recognition in the category of Compensation, Benefits and Employee Solutions.
Eleven high school students were honored for outstanding academic achievement recently at the 9th Annual Riverside County Student Academic Awards Dinner, sponsored by Altura CU, Riverside, Calif.
PSECU, Harrisburg, Pa., made a $2,500 donation to the State Employee Combined Appeal (SECA). SECA is the commonwealth's annual charitable giving campaign for employees, which allows them to donate to any of hundreds of participating non-profit charities.

Macon, Ga.-based MidSouth Community FCU's Milledgeville Branch Manager, Ginger Lasseter, presented a sponsorship check for the 2014 Georgia College Dance Marathon. The event raised more than $52,000 for The Children's Hospital, in Macon.
Employees of Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., in partnership with the Armed Forces Financial Network, presented $1,000 in "thank you" gift cards to help military families staying at the Fisher House in St. Louis. The 20 gift cards will be given to family members of injured or ill soldiers or veterans to help them with expenses while the soldier receives medical treatment.
The Sussex County Health Promotion Coalition named Sussex County FCU, Milford, Del., and its Foundation, the 2014 recipients of the prestigious Champion for Children award.
After retired El Segundo Police Lt. Walt Krumbach died in a motorcycle accident, South Bay CU, Redondo Beach, Calif., donated 31 books to the Literally Healing Library at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, in recognition of Krumbach's 31 years of membership.
Carolina Trust FCU, Myrtle Beach, S.C., contributed $3,200 to the March of Dimes charity: $1,750 to the Pee Dee Division and $950 to the Greater Lake City Division.
Employees of America First CU, Riverdale, Utah, volunteered their time during Safe Kids Day at George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden. The CU assisted in raising awareness about ways families can prevent losing a child to a predictable and preventable injury.
Bronco FCU, Franklin, Va., awarded scholarships to 10 high school seniors from the Hampton Roads community: one $10,000 scholarship, one $3,000 scholarship, four $1,250 scholarships, and four $500 scholarships. Rock Valley CU, Love's Park, Ill., presented Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary with a check for $1,300. The donation was part of the launch of RVCU's Facebook page where $1 was donated for every new LIKE (up to $750) and $550 was raised from Blue Jean Fridays, which allowed employees to wear blue jeans for a donation.
Align CU, Lowell, Mass., recently visited a 3rd grade class at Frost Elementary School in Lawrence. Representatives brought classroom supplies and copies of "Not Cool to Bully in School," a book by Boston Bruins hockey star Milan Lucic that was sponsored by Align.
PrimeWay FCU employees and family members supported "Hope for Three," a foundation that supports children with Autism, at the Telfair Life Charity Walk in Sugar Land, Texas.
