Fox Communities CU, Appleton, Wis., held a silent auction that raised more than $23,000 benefiting nine local charities including Teachers Closet, American Cancer Society, Appleton Housing Authority, Giving Tree, Harbor House, Fox Valley Humane Society, Brown County Salvation Army and the Happily Ever After Sanctuary.
AMOCO FCU, League City, Texas, held its 10th Annual All Staff Training Day with a a Dr. Seuss-inspired theme of "Oh The Places You'll Go With AMOCO."
Westerly Community CU donated $5,000 to the Greater Westerly Chamber Foundation to support the "Bring Back the Beach" Misquamicut Beach Recovery Fund. Separately, the CU donated 100% of the proceeds from the 29th Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament to Chariho, Exeter-West Greenwich, Stonington and Westerly High School Sports Boosters, with each school receiving a check for $2,265.14.
Georgia United CU, Duluth, Ga., held its annual Team Day Community Service Project, during which the CU's 220 employees produced, packaged and delivered 4,000 meal kits and 4,000 personal care kits to the Gateway Center of Atlanta.
Aberdeen Proving Ground FCU, Aberdeen, Md., gave away boxes of chocolates on Valentine's Day to 11 members, including Anna Lin (above).

Firelands FCU, Bellevue, Ohio, donated the land for The Fallen Soldiers Memorial, honoring members of the military who have died in the line of duty since World War I up through the present day.
JetStream FCU, Miami Lakes, Fla., cut the ribbon on its newly remodeled Hialeah Hospital branch.
Golden 1 CU, Sacramento, Calif., relocated its San Francisco branch to 2298 Lombard Street and held an open house to celebrate.
Navy FCU, Vienna, Va., teamed up with Visa, Inc., Washington Redskins Linebacker London Fletcher and Running Back Alfred Morris to host a "Financial Football" financial literacy session for members of the military. In other news, the CU said its Ft. Hood branch has added 10,000 members since opening in 2009 and presented a $1,000 check to Fisher House to commemorate the milestone.
Municipal CU, New York City, is continuing its sponsorship of St. John's University Advantage Academy, which is a partnership between St. John's University and the New York City Department of Homeless Services.
Members Exchange CU, Ridgeland, Miss., broke ground on construction of its fourth branch office in Byram.

More than 71 pounds of food were collected, plus cash donations that will provide 223 meals to those in need.

Neighbors FCU and Pelican State FCU, Baton Rouge, La., teamed up with Louisiana Jump$tart and the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Aid to present College Goal Sunday, which brings financial information and resources to students and families who are applying for financial aid for post-secondary education.
Suncoast Schools FCU, Tampa, Fla., hosted the Financial Football Super Bowl for 12 area high schools.
Credit unions in Helena, Mont., teamed up to sponsor a field trip for 1,700 fourth and fifth graders to attend a performance by the Platypus Theater Company and the Helena Symphony Orchestra.
Service CU, Portsmouth, N.H., said employees participated in a month-long Service CU Fitness Challenge supporting the New Hampshire American Heart Association. In other news, the CU also donated $3,000 to the Pease Greeters program, which welcomes home military personnel landing at the Portsmouth International Airport at the Pease Tradeport.
Dow Chemical Employees CU, Midland, Mich., collected more than $4,000 in food, household items and personal care items that were in turn donated to four local community organizations: The Open Door, Ten Sixteen Recovery Network, Good Samaritan Rescue Mission and the East Side Soup Kitchen.

United FCU, St. Joseph, Mich., said CEO Gary Easterling recently accepted the "Live United Award" from the United Way of Southwest Michigan, recognizing UFCU employees donating more than $43,599 during the last United Way campaign.

In other news, the credit union participated in a number of charitable activities during the holidays, including: Toys for Tots, food drives benefiting four different food pantries, Children's Miracle Network, Paper Angels Holiday Giving Program, Winter Dreams 2012, Ferndale Ice Festival and other good works.
GTE Financial CU, Tampa, Fla., raised $6,414.44 for Metropolitan Ministries during the CU's Make Hope Real holiday campaign. GTE supported another four charities, raising a total of $23,723 in November and December 2012.
Honor CU, St. Joseph, Mich., helped sponsor the Michigan Youth Opportunities Initiative in partnership with the Department of Human Services, Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative and the Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency.

State Employees CU hosted a Students@Work Week event in its participation in the North Carolina Business Committee for Education, which featured a visit from Tony Almeida, a senior advisor to Gov. Pat McCrory. In other news, SECU partnered with the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center, Inc., to create the SECU Public Service Intern program for college students. The CU also reported that its contact centers are now equipped with United Communications technology that allows the credit union to hire employees from all over the state instead of just near its service centers.
