Amherst FCU, Amherst, N.Y., donated $1,000 to WNY Heroes Inc.
The Credit Union Association of N.Y. recently held its statewide Governmental Affairs Conference, giving its members an opportunity to meet with their elected state.
eCO CU, Birmingham, Ala., awarded $1,000 scholarships to two local students. In other news, the CU announced the results of its Savings Race, in which the CU worked with four individuals to help them improve their financial well being. Winner Kristy Roy won $10,000 for her efforts, while the other participants each received $2,000.
Hartford Healthcare FCU, Hartford, Conn., donated $4,000 to Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
Firefighters Community CU, Cleveland, held its annual meeting, where it celebrated surpassing the $200-million mark.
Oklahoma City Credit Unions for Kids-Boomer Sooner Chapter has pledged a gift of $1 million over the next five years to the Children's Hospital Foundation.
Security Service FCU, San Antonio, participated in the Military Saves campaign, creating special displays for each branch to promote its efforts to reach members of the military. In other news, the CU recently donated $20,000 to the 2013 March for Babies Walk in Salt Lake City.
IC CU, Fitchburg, Mass., has pledged $10,000 to the North Central Massachusetts Development Corporation. Separately, the CU teamed up with the City of Fitchburg Board of Health on a citywide "Clean-Up Day," including recycling by Dean Fuller and ProTek Recycling Company and shredding by New England Security Shredders.
PCU, Woodbury, Minn., hosted students from Skyview Elementary School as part of the CU's Banker for a Day program. The credit union also participated in the National Youth Savings Challenge.
Indiana Members CU, Indianapolis, donated $375 to Sheltering Wings. In other news, the CU celebrated the grand opening of its newest branch in Brownsburg, Ind.
Redwood CU, Santa Rosa, Calif., sent a team of 28 employees to participate in the 4th Annual Laguna de Santa Foundation Rosa Tree-a-Thon, a tree-planting effort to preserve the Laguna's oak woodlands ecosystem. Separately, the CU hosted a financial literacy event along with the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce for San Rafael High School.
Neighbors CU, St. Louis, donated 20 blankets, 20 flashlights with batteries and a case of toilet paper to the Hazelwood School District to be disbursed among victims from recent storms in that area and also made a $650 donation to the Hazelwood Community Response Team. Separately, the CU hosted its 8th Annual Shred Day and celebrated Youth Savings Week.
Frontier Community CU, Leavenworth, Kan., awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Madison Herrig during its recent annual meeting. Separately, the CU was recognized by Nerdwallet.com for its youth rewards program.
The Kansas CU Association held its annual meeting, which featured a visit from Gov. Sam Brownback, as well as awards presented to: Professional of the Year, Karen Hamit, CEO of CU of Dodge City; Volunteer of the Year, Jim Peebler, Supervisory Committee Chair for TECU. And Quest CU's Gary Winkler was inducted to the KCUA Hall of Fame.

Newly elected board members: Kerry Fearn, Area Educational CU; Alan Meyer, 1st Mid America CU; Janet Francoeur, Riverside Community CU; Tim O'Donnell, Financial Plus CU; Carl Sorgatz, Great Lakes CU; Karen Jurasek, Generations CU; Patrick Basler, First Financial CU and Peter Paulson, Corporate America Family CU.
Vermont FCU, Burlington, Vt., recently held its 60th Annual Meeting.
NH FCU, Manchester, N.H., held a CU 4 Reality Financial Literacy Fair for Rundlett Middle School students at America's Credit Union Museum.
Franklin Mint FCU, Broomall, Penn., teamed up with Berenstain Enterprises, Inc., to open the new Financial Literacy Center, Bear Country CU to help teach financial literacy to children.
