Dutch Point CU, Newington, Conn., helped sponsor the Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut's 2013 Scrabble Challenge.
The Massachusetts CU League and some of its member credit unions teamed up to celebrate Financial Literacy Month, inlcuding hosting a financial literally "reality fair" that was held in Boston.
RTN FCU, Brookline, Mass., held a Wish Project Baby Essentials Collection Drive. Separately, the CU donated $50,000 to Lawrence General Hospital's New Simulation Lab.
BrightStar CU, Sunrise, Fla., teamed up with the City of Pembroke Pines, Fla., to host a Financial Fitness Fair for youth as part of the CU's participation in National Credit Union Youth Week. The fair also incuded several seminars for adults, as well.
Cross Valley FCU made a $1,000 donation to sponsor Habitat for Humanity's Annual Spencer Martin Memorial Bike Ride.
Connex CU, North Haven, Conn., donated $413.96 to the Hamden High School After Prom event. Separately, the CU also donated $450.85 to Ridge Hill School, $846.87 to the Cheshire MS Walk, $500 to the Community Dining Room and $385.18 to the Moses Y. Beach Elementary School PTO.
TruMark Financial CU, Trevose, Penn., hosted a visit from Cub Scout Troop 242. In other news, the CU participated in Bring Your Child to Work Day and awarded $11,400 in scholarships to 10 area students.
Vantage CU, St. Louis, awarded $1,000 scholarships to 20 area students.
GCS CU, Granite City, Ill., awarded a $1,500 scholarship to Megan Votupal. In other news, the CU was named a "top performer" by the Madison County Treasurer for its efforts to collect real estate property tax payments and held a supply collection for the Illinois State Police Cadet Camp.
Six Fitchburg, Mass.-area credit unions teamed up to host a CU4 Reality Financial Literacy Program for nearly 700 students from 10 local schools. The fair also coincided with a visit from credit union officials from the Bahamas.
Champion CU, Canton, N.C., donated $10,000 in matching funds, for a total donation of more than $30,000, raised for Mountain Projects Community Action Agency.
First Capital FCU, York, Penn., participated in rock bandthemed Office Olympix event that helped raise more than $35,000 for Easter Seals Central Pennsylvania. Separately, the CU awarded $500 scholarships to Sarah Berger and Jakyra Simpson, and hosted the 2013 International Business & Workforce Expo at which it showcased its new Star Rewards program.
AOD FCU sponsored the Kids' Fishing Classic for intellectually disabled students and their teachers. In other news, the CU awarded scholarships to 15 local students.
St. Anne's CU, River Falls, Mass., participated in a Boston Strong Casual Day to raise money for The One Fund Boston. In other news, the CU also participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day.
Charter Oak FCU, Groton, Conn., awarded a total of $14,000 in scholarships to seven local students.
Day Air CU, Kettering, Ohio, awarded $1,000 scholarships to Lance Crockett and Austin Neumeier.
Gerber FCU, Fremont, Mich., said CEO John Buckley was joined by State Rep. Jon Bumstead on a visit to local high school students as part of the Michigan CU League's 10th Annual Financial Literacy Legislative Challenge. Separately, the CU awarded a $100 gift card to Sara Knash as part of its quarterly drawing of survey particpants.
San Antonio FCU received the 2013 MHI Regional Lender of the Year Award for manufactured and modular housing at the 2013 National Congress & Expo. Separately, the CU also helped host the 11th Annual Shred Day and also recognized 19 teachers with the 14th Annual ExCEL Awards.
Navy FCU, Vienna, Va., participated in the Purple Up campaign that supports children of active-duty military personnel. In other news, the CU also marked Military Appreciation Week and was recognized as one of the Most Valuable Employers by CivilianJobs.com for its efforts to help military members acclimate to the civilian workforce once they are out of the military.
