Members of the Minnesota Family Involvement Council (FIC) shared their knowledge and expertise about credit unions with high school students at the Cooperative Network's "Co-ops YES!" Youth Leadership Conference.
Ent FCU, Colorado Springs, Colo., awarded 15 non-profit agencies in the Pikes Peak Region a total of $45,000 through its 2014 Youth Endowment Series (YES) program grants. Introduced in 2000, the YES Grant program directs specific support to non-profit organizations benefiting children.
TruMark Financial CU, Trevose, Pa., relaxed its dress code and allowed employees to wear jeans on March 14 and 28, in support of the Clyde F. Barker Transplant House, raising $750.
University of Kentucky FCU made its annual donation of $15,000 in scholarship money, $5,000 to each of the three main entities it serves: University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. The scholarships are awarded by the separate Financial Aid offices to qualified students who need financial assistance.
ConnexCares, Connex CU, North Haven, Conn., donated $880.79 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The funds were raised from the fees collected by Connex's coin-cashing machine. Separately, Connex CU employees donated more than 600 diapers to The Diaper Bank at the ShamRock & Roll 5k in New Haven.
Rock Valley CU, Loves Park, Ill. presented a $700 check to Carpenter's Place, which helps rebuild the lives of homeless adults. The money was raised by employees wearing jeans to work.
Roger Heacock, president & CEO of Black Hills FCU, Rapid City, S.D., cuts the ribbon at BHFCU's new branch located on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In addition, the CU awarded its 2014 VIBZ Scholarships. Six high school seniors will receive $1,000 each.
American Heritage FCU, Philadelphia, hosted a "Lunch with the Easter Bunny" fundraiser on April 6 that raised more than $2,000, with all proceeds benefiting the Busia Compassionate Centre, located in Western Kenya.
As part of a multi-year commitment, Taunton FCU, Taunton, Mass., recently donated $2,500 to Pro-Home, a Taunton-based nonprofit housing counseling agency.
In Virginia Beach, Va., Chartway FCU's We Promise Foundation awarded a $200,000 charitable grant to Toby's Dream Foundation. The contribution will enable the two dream-granting foundations to work together to fulfill the wishes of approximately 50 children who qualify for the program.

The Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids committee (Mn-CU4Kids) raised $202,291 in 2013 for Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, the Children's Miracle Network-designated hospital in Minnesota. Additionally, MnCU4Kids reached $2.5 million in total funds raised since its inception in 1997.
Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., recently presented a $1,000 check in its continued support of the Troy Titans Football Club, which it has sponsored since 2009. SCU pledged three years of support of the club's effort to purchase new helmets and uniforms. In addition, SCU hosted its 71st annual meeting and celebrated being ranked in the list of Top Workplaces for medium-sized businesses in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 2013.
