Del-One FCU, Dover, Del., donated more than 30 shovels and hard hats to Dover's Re-Store to benefit the Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity. Separately, the CU opened a new student-run branch at Glasgow High School.
Charter Oak FCU, Groton, Conn., will donate $50,000 to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital's Centennial Campaign over the next five years toward the campaign's goal of funding a new cancer center in Waterford, Conn.
Municipal CU, New York City, hosted more than 200 students from Brooklyn youth groups to commemorate Jackie Robinson Day, featuring appearances by Mets Hall of Fame Pitcher John Franco and former pro baseball player Terry McFarlin, as well as a private screening of "42: The Jackie Robinson Story." The event was co-hosted with the Brooklyn Cyclones and Regal Cinemas.
First Commonwealth FCU, LeHigh Valley, Penn., donated Easter baskets filled with goodies to Pinebrook Family Services for distribution to 24 area foster children. In other news, the CU hosted a savings challenge for kids as part of National CU Youth Week.
American Eagle FCU, East Hartford Conn., donated $25,000 to the Goodwin College Foundation. To commemorate the donation, Goodwin College has dedicated a classroom to the CU.
Catholic FCU, Saginaw, Mich., has partnered with Onsite Wellness to develop an employee wellness program.
NuVision FCU, Huntington Beach, Calif., visited 16 elementary schools over the last month to help educate local kids about money and banking.
Michigan State University FCU, East Lansing, Mich., announced a $1-million donation to the Michigan State University's Wharton Center for Performing Arts.
Georgia United CU, Duluth, Ga., collected 31,839 cans of food for the CU's CAN HUNGER drive to benefit local food banks. Separately, the CU awarded a total of $12,500 in scholarships disbursed among 13 local students.
Securityplus FCU, Baltimore Md., held its annual membership meeting, at which the CU celebrated its 75th anniversary.
The Louisiana Credit Union League, Harahan, La., hosted the second Young Professionals Network Workshop.
American Heritage FCU, Philadelphia, held its annual Employee Appreciation Day with a theme of "Celebrating Philly Sports." Separately, Jobs Now Magazine named the CU to its list of Best Places to Work.
OMNI Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., gave a $3,000 "Omni Gives Back Grant" to the Creating Change in Battle Creek Neighborhoods organization. Other recent grants went to Gryphon Place ($2,000), Three Rivers Area Mentoring ($2,000) and Region 3B Area Agency on Aging ($1,000).
Advantis CU, Portland, Ore., donated $7,500 to Friends of Children, which funds scholarships for at-risk youth. Separately, the CU recently celebrated its 85th anniversary and reaching the $1-billion mark in assets.
Autoland Inc., Chatsworth, Calif., awarded its 2012 fourth quarter charitable grant of $2,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which was nominated by North Island CU, San Diego.
Mobiloil FCU, Beaumont, Texas, was named Business of the Month by the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.
Aggieland CU, College Station, Texas, said one of its employees, Rebecca Vickers, was nominated for the Texas A&M Student Employee of the Year award.
Bethpage FCU, Bethpage, N.Y., hosted the presentation of the Hispanic Business Owner of the Year Award and the "Hispanic Initiative" program established by the Stony Brook University Small Business Development Center. In other news, the CU also sponsored research by the Stony Brook University Center for Survey Research and a panel discussion on the small business sector.
Gerber FCU, Fremont, Mich., said CEO John Buckely was joined by State Sen. Geoff Hansen during a visit to Newaygo High School as part of the Michigan CU League's 10th Annual Financial Literacy Legislative Challenge. Separately, the CU awarded Marcia Lubbers $100 in Fremont Fun Cash during a drawing at that Annual Community and Business Expo hosted by the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce.
