The Northeast Georgia Chapter of Credit Unions made donations to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and the Athens Regional Medical Center's Guest House.
1st Advantage FCU, Yorktown, Va., held its 6h Annual 1st AIDE Day, sending volunteers to help several area charities including: collected more than 4,000 pounds of food for The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula, created 179 family meal bags, made 487 holiday cards for veterans at two area VA hospitals, made 127 "surgery bears" for young hospital patients, made 25 blankets for the homeless and residents of the Malachi House, built four bookcases for Operation Homefront of The Virginias. Separately, the CU donated $10,000 to Operation Homefront of The Virginias.
Carolina Trust FCU, Myrtle Beach, S.C., raised $1,529 for the American Heart Association, which the CU then doubled for a total donation of $3,000.
Lacamas Community CU, Camas, Wash., donated $500 to Fort Vancouver School and $250 to Dog Paw to benefit the Washougal Police K-9 Unit.
Astera CU, Lansing, Mich., hosted its Member Appreciation Day at the Potter Park Zoo, including free admission and parking at the zoo as well as a members-only area at the park.
NESC FCU, Methuen, Mass., volunteered at the Vietnam Memorial Road Race. Separately, the CU also hosted a Member Appreciation Day.
Meriwest CU, San Jose, Calif., in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank's AHEAD grant program, sponsored a $30,000 grant awarded to Peninsula Family Services Second Career Program.
Greater TEXAS FCU, Bastrop, Texas, hosted a free shred day.
NuVision FCU, Huntington Beach, Calif., participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night event. In other news, the CU also raised money for Children's Hospital of Orange County and cut the ribbon on its new branch in Carson, Calif.
Rock Valley CU, Loves Park, Ill., encouraged employees to wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and also raffled off Cheryl Crow concert tickets to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
eCO CU, Birmingham, Ala., held a six-week fundraiser for Children's of Alabama, raising more than $34,000 for the hospital.
TruStone Financial FCU, Plymouth, Minn., awarded gas for a year to Clare Blodgett as part of its Facebook promotion.
Suffolk FCU, Medford, N.Y., celebrated the anniversary of its branch on Horseblock Road.
Great Lakes CU, Round Lake Beach, Ill., teamed up with Liberty Mutual Insurance to host a Child Safety Fair.
Texas Plains FCU, Amarillo, Texas, raised more than $3,450 for Susan G Komens Race for the cure. Part of the money was raised by a pie-in-the-face contest.
United FCU, St. Joseph, Mich., presented the Excellence in Education Award to Lynn Soncini, a fourth grade teacher at Donner Elementary School in Reno, Nev. In other news, the CU selected Sybille Hocholle as the winner of the Class Act Award. The CU also said it is building a new operations center in Niles, Mich.
JetStream FCU, Miami Lakes, Fla., served as a table sponsor for the Doral Business Councils first Economic Forecast Luncheon.
Teachers FCU, Hauppauge, N.Y., allowed employees to wear jeans and a pink shirt to work if they made a donation of $5, raising $1,300 for the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition.
Members of the CU Association of New York's Young Professional Commission traveled to Washington to speak with lawmakers on key credit union issues.
Acclaim FCU, Greensboro, N.C., hosted a Member Appreciation Day.
Helena Community CU, Helena, Mont., worked the registration booth at the fundraising walk for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Community West CU, Grand Rapids, Mich., teamed up with ESPN 96.1 FM to giveaway 500 mini footballs to fans at a local high school game. When those fans then showed up at the CU with one of the footballs to open an account, the CU made a $10 donation to the school.
Dutch Point CU, Wethersfield, Conn., hosted its annual shred day. Separately, the CU raised $2,065 for the Hartford Area Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
Western New York FCU, West Seneca, N.Y., served cider and doughnuts and offered members the opportunity to write down why they love the CU on paper hearts to display in the lobby as part of the CUs International CU Day celebration.
PCMCU, Green Bay, Wis., gave away a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid on International CU Day as part of a promotion that began in mid-July aimed at getting members to update their contact information.
Northwest FCU, Herndon, Va., marked a "Heartfelt Hope for a Cure" day to help raise breast cancer awareness. In other news, the CU raised more than $130,000 during the "Boardwalk of Miracles" auction for Credit Unions for Kids and Childrens Miracle Network.
North Central Area CU and Northland Area FCU, Roscommon, Mich., teamed up with local chambers of commerce to host a business after hours to mark International Credit Union Day, raising $803 for Children's Miracle Network.
Philadelphia FCU employees competed in the annual Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival and raised $2,500 for Aid for Friends.
Vermont FCU, South Burlington, Vt., hosted eight representatives of Peruvian credit union AELUCOOP.
