Genisys CU, Auburn Hills, Mich., sponsored the 13th Annual Stonewall Pumpkin Festival at the Rochester Hills Museum. Additionally, the CU sponsored the Shelby Township Parks & Recreation Department's Halloween Spooktacular, donated $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity and participated in AIDS Walk Detroit and Brooksie Way Half Marathon.
American Heritage FCU, Philadelphia, collected school supplies for the Busia Compassionate Centre in Western Kenya. In other news, the CU also donated more than 3,200 books to local hospitals, community centers and special care facilities; was named one of the Best Places To Work in Philadelphia; opened a new branch in Limerick, Pa.; donated $60,000 to the Doylestown Hospital Maternity Unit and hosted a visit from the former Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya Elkanah Odembo, who is now the vice president of the African region for the World Council of Credit Unions
Jeanne D'Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., donated $1,500 to Lucy's Love Bus as part of the CU's "Give a Click" campaign. In other news, the CU announced the winners of its MoneyStrongForLife Challenge, awarding $7,500 to the Vejar and Poulopoulos family. Another $2,500 was awarded to the two runners-up, the Lessieur family and the Vaillancourt family.
PrimeSource CU, Spokane, Wash., made a $500 donation to Second Harvest Food Bank. In other news, the CU held a back-to-school supply drive in support of the Salvation Army.
SAC FCU, Bellevue, Neb., received the AIA NE People's Choice Award for its new corporate headquarters building.
Rock Valley CU, Loves Park, Ill., participated in the All Star Children's Expo presented by State Reps. Joe Sosnowski and John Cabello and State Sen. Dave Syverson.
Patriot CU, Chambersburg, Pa., participated in the March of Dimes Walk For Babies, raising $1,000 for the charity. Separately, the Exchange Club of Chambersburg welcomed Patriot CFO Lisa Johnston as a new member.
Robins FCU, Warner Robins, Ga., participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Additionally, the CU sponsored the Five Star Mazda Kevin Brown Celebrity Classic with a $10,000 donation to the Macon Rescue Mission.
OMNI Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., awarded a $2,000 grant to the Kalamazoo Chapter of the American Red Cross. Separately, the CU donated $1,500 to Calhoun County Miles for Memories Coalition.
Securityplus FCU, Baltimore, Md., held a free shred event, shredding 10,000 pounds of documents. In other news, the CU raised more than $5,000 for the American Diabetes Association.
Twelve Minnesota credit union advocates participated in the Minnesota CU Network's annual Hike the Hill event. In other news, the state CU foundation said two state CU CEOs represented the MnCU4Kids initiative in a special Children's Miracle Network event. Additionally, Cook Area CU hosted a meeting with Minnesota Department of Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman.
NESC FCU, Methuen, Mass., said its employees volunteered as road marshals for the "Hike for Hope" benefiting the Lazarus House Ministries.
TruStone Financial FCU, Plymouth, Minn., dedicated its new Little Free Library at its LynLake office. In other news, the CU celebrated the grand opening of its remodeled branch in Cudahy, Wis., during which the CU made a $1,000 donation to the Cudahy Police Department.
RTN FCU, Waltham, Mass., donated $22,206.75, which was raised by the Walk Home 5K to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. The CU also held its annual back-to-school backpack drive.
State Employees CU, Raleigh, N.C., sent representatives to participate in a tour of a renovated property that was made possible through SECU's SECU*Real Estate Propert Management. In other news, SECU also sponsored a special advertisement to salute the staff of North Carolina newspapers, broke ground on SECU Family House at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, partnered with North Carolina Botanical Gardens and Obrian Atkins architects to develop landscaping templates for SECU branches using only native plants and recently held its annual meeting.
Affinity FCU, Basking Ridge, N.J., sponsored a soccer clinic for 75 girls from the Hanover Township Soccer Association.
St. Mary's Bank, Manchester, N.H., awarded a $2,000 community outreach grant to the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester. Separately, the CU opened its new mortgage center in Concord, N.H.
Pelican State CU, Baton Rouge, La., presented a check for $1,000 to the Most Blessed Sacrament cheerleading squad for its winning video in the CU's cheer contest. In other news, the CU celebrated the fourth anniversary of its student-run branch at Peabody Magnet High School.
Utah CU Association's 100% for Kids CU Education Foundation awarded Utah schools with more than $10,000 in grants to start off the school year.
Texas Trust CU, Mansfield, Texas, selected 16 students to participate on its Youth Advisory Council. Separately, the CU opened a new branch in Arlington, Texas.
Allegany County Teachers FCU, LaVale, Md., is participating in CUNA's Don't Tax My Credit Union effort.
Atlantic Financial FCU, Hunt Valley, Md., held a Community Appreciation Day to educate members about the Dont Tax My Credit Union movement.
The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions collected more than 1,200 pounds of food for the Houston Food Bank. Separately, the group also donated $100,000 to TexasChildrens Hospital.
Ocala Community CU, Ocala, Fla., hosted a booth at the "Buy Local Business Expo."
Greater Alliance FCU, Paramus, N.J., participated in Miracle Jeans Day and raised $600 for Children's Miracle Network.
Public Service CU, Romulus, Mich., participated in Miracle Jeans Day and raised $1,849.74 for Childrens Miracle Network.
Carolina Postal CU, Charlotte, N.C., hosted a voter registration drive.
Ozarks Credit Unions, a network of CUs across southwest Missouri, raised more than $29,477 for Childrens Miracle Network at the 17th Annual Credit Unions' Golfing for Kids Benefit Golf Tournament. Participating credit unions included Assemblies of God, BluCurrent, Community Financial, CU Community, Educational Community, Metro, Mid Missouri and TelComm.
CFCU Community CU, Ithaca, N.Y., participated in the United Way of Tompkins County's Day of Caring, with employees pledging more than $12,000, as well as donating 215 bags full of food, personal care items, school supplies and pet supplies.
Educational CU, Topeka, Kan., hosted free tailgate parties at area high schools for the students during football season.
Town & Country CU, Minot, N.D., participated in the Minot River Valley Cleanup.
