The Napa County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honored Donna Zapata, business development officer for Santa Rosa, Calif.-based Redwood CU, as "Woman of the Year."
Franklin Mint FCU, Broomall, Pa., presented 17 teachers with the Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Award at the 2014 Partners in Learning Celebration banquet. Each recipient received $500 and his/her school received $1,000.
Louisiana State University graduate Chelsea Mayer won a $500 Classroom Makeover from Pelican State CU. All Louisiana teachers were invited to visit Pelican's Facebook page and upload a photo of their classroom for entry into the giveaway.
Sharonview FCU, Fort Mill, S.C., awarded Sharonview Cares Annual Scholarship funds totaling $10,000 to three deserving students.
In Tampa, Fla., GTE Financial's GTE Foundation Scholarship Program awarded a total of $90,000 in scholarship funds to 36 local high school and undergraduate students.
Naveo CU, Somerville, Mass., awarded four $1,000 scholarships to recipients of the Carlos Faria and Victor Da Silva Memorial Scholarship.
TDECU, Lake Jackson, Texas made a $25,000 donation to the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center. The donation was made in celebration of TDECU's opening of its first branch in Missouri City.
Hershey FCU, Hummelstown, Pa., presented a check for $3,500 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
Clackamas Community FCU, Milwaukie, Ore., donated $10,000 to Mt. Hood Search and Rescue, which took the check and rappelled it up and down the CU's building.
Garden Savings FCU, Parsippany, N.J., hosted its 4th annual charitable golf outing to benefit the Youth Education and Employment Success Center of Newark. The event raised $12,500.
Hanscom FCU, Hanscom AFB, Mass., participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Burlington, raising $10,006 from donations, fundraisers, and a match from the Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation. Hanscom FCU sponsored the event at the Fight Back level.
Macon, Ga.-based MidSouth Community FCU presented a donation to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.
GCS CU, Granite City, Ill., participated in the National Children's Cancer Society's "Pack the Pool" fundraiser. GCS employees raised $665 for NCCS by wearing jeans on Fridays and Saturdays.
Clackamas FCU, Milwaukie, Ore., and its members raising $20,000 for donation to two local nonprofits: A Safe Place Family Justice Center and Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council.
In Oshkosh, Wis., members of CitizensFirst's Next Gen Outreach program volunteered at a drive for the Fond du Lac Humane Society, gathering donations of food and supplies from the Humane Society's wish list.
Fort Bragg FCU, Fayetteville, N.C., presented a $7,000 check to Carolinas Credit Union Foundation to support the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C.
In Dannemora, N.Y., New York State Senator Betty Little and Dannemora FCU CEO Randall Martin cut the ribbon as the CU opened its new operations center.
In West Covina, Calif., senior management of First Financial CU used National Hot Dog Day as the backdrop for a lunchtime charity fundraiser, dressing up as hot dogs and condiments and performing live skits. They also cooked hot dogs and served staff their lunch. The effort raised $700 for various charities.
Kinecta FCU, Manhattan Beach, Calif., participated in "Operation Gratitude" as CU employees created more than 100,000 care packages for U.S. service members. In addition, the CU donated more than 4,500 diapers and $400 to Baby2Baby, staffers helped build a home in Lynwood, Calif., for Habitat for Humanitys Corporate Build Day, and volunteered at the Orange County Food Bank in Garden Grove, Calif.
In 2012 DATCU Credit Union, Denton, Texas, created its first Junior Board of Directors to help local students further develop leadership, gain insight about the credit union and financial industry, and promote community service. After a successful first year that included winning the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility, the CU is expanding the Junior Board outside of Denton to include Decatur- and Lewisville-area students.
Genisys CU, Auburn Hills, Mich., supported McLaren Oakland Physicians by giving 50 children free sports physicals during the 9th Annual Children's Sports Health Fair.
SeaComm FCU, Massena, N.Y., and St. Lawrence FCU, Ogdensburg, N.Y., joined together to benefit the youth in their field of membership, each making a $500 donation to the Canton Day Care Center, Inc., Canton N.Y.
Hundreds of members and area residents enjoyed the annual Family Day event held at the Pooler branch of Georgia Heritage FCU, Savannah, Ga. There were inflatables for the children, giveaways, door prizes, grilled hot dogs and summer drinks.
NuVision FCU, Huntington Beach, Calif., announced the local winners of its annual Scholarship Program. Seven Southern California students won scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000.
The Members Group, Des Moines, Iowa, held an Executive Summit at Lake Tahoe that included a silent auction benefiting the Children's Miracle Network. The auction, which offered 10 donated gifts ranging from business books to an iPad Mini, raised more than $1,700.

360 FCU, Windsor Locks, Conn., is making back-to-school a happy time for two deserving students in the community. Through The Network (formerly the Network Against Domestic Abuse) in Enfield, CU employees purchased clothing items and school supplies for the children.
Hanscom FCU, Hanscom AFB, Mass., was the lead sponsor of the most recent Hanscom Heroes Homecoming parade, helping to celebrate the return of over 70 Airmen to their families and loved ones after deployment overseas.

The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions held its annual Poker Tournament at Houston Highway CU. The event helped raise $3,300 for the Chapter's Ad Coop committee to continue ongoing advertising efforts.
Teachers FCU, Hauppauge, N.Y., donated $500 and 50 jars of peanut butter and jelly to the Central Islip Civic Council, a non-profit, community based agency dedicated to improving the quality of life for all residents of Central Islip.
Vantage CU, Bridgeton, Mo., celebrated the grand opening of its new Twin Cities Branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community leaders and credit union VIPs. A $500 donation went to Sunnyhill Residential facility after the event.
Peach State FCU, Lawrenceville, Ga., donated food to the Area Churches Together Serving. ACTS is a Ministry of Oconee County Churches, which was organized to help people in the local area with emergency needs.
Securityplus FCU, Baltimore, participated in the Baltimore County Public Schools' Clean Green 15 Challenge. A team of volunteers collected litter at Gwynn Oak Park in Woodlawn.
Financial Plus CU, Flint, Mich., kicked off its 8th annual Pink Night with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Pink Night celebrates the lives of those touched by breast cancer and raises funds to support the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Separately, the CU took part in the 5th Annual Caring Community Credit Unions Campaign to help raise money for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
LaPlace, La.-based Louisiana FCU celebrated the grand opening of its newest branch in the community where it all began, Norco, La.
Municipal CU, New York City, sponsored NYPD night at a Brooklyn Cyclones game at MCU Park to celebrate the New York Police Department and its affiliated organizations.
