A look at some of the happenings in the Mile High City this week.
In addition to attending all conference sessions, members of The Cooperative Trust are crafting business plans for a credit union focused on serving Millennials. Some of their ideas will be used in a forthcoming white paper from Filene.
Conference attendees used the "Global Guest Book, placing a sticker on the world map to show where they're from. Locales from Estonia to Ecuador and South Korea to South Dakota have been marked.
In remarks to the general session, World Council of CUs (WOCCU), CEO Brian Branch emphasized the universality of the cooperative structure and the credit union movement. "We find that the credit union model fits most any country, most any culture," he said. "It works for any ethnic group of any religion and under most governments."
According to Emma Avery, internal communications specialist at the Greater Building Society in Newcastle, Australia, to shrink the awareness gap, some Australian credit unions are considering incorporating the word "bank" into their name because there's no confusion about what a bank does or the services it offers.
