Veteran assistance

Volunteers from the Cornerstone CU League helped two deserving veterans who live in Fort Worth, Texas, by making needed improvements to their homes. At Bobby Chandler’s house, volunteers replaced a door and locks, and put in new tile and counter tops. At the home of 101-year-old WWII Army PFC Santiago Diaz, volunteers did yard work and painted rooms.

Doggie Dash

In Albuquerque, U.S. Eagle FCU’s Team Eagle participated in the Doggie Dash & Dawdle, Animal Humane New Mexico's largest fundraising event. Proceeds from Doggie Dash & Dawdle benefit the cats and dogs in Animal Humane's care and its community programs.

Indiana Members CU, Indianapolis, said InteCare, Inc., was the quarterly winner in the veterans-related category for the IMCU Gives Back Campaign. InteCare received a $6,000 donation.

Teamwork

Kellogg Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., held its annual Team Enrichment Day, starting with team bonding in a fun atmosphere, then moving on to volunteering time to local charitable organizations. KCCU Team Members volunteered 392 hours at numerous organizations.

Employees of Northwest FCU, Herndon, Va., held a fundraising lunch for the Virginia Credit Union Political Action Committee, an organization dedicated to supporting Virginia politicians who champion credit unions. Employees raised $1,000 for the organization.

Carolina Trust FCU, Myrtle Beach, S.C., donated $3,000 to the Eastern South Carolina American Red Cross Chapter.

Scholarship winners

In St. Paul, Minn., Affinity Plus FCU’s Foundation awarded five new $3,000 University scholarships. The University Scholarships join Affinity Plus Foundation’s current $5,000 annual scholarship program, which are awarded to various student members.

The ‘Wow’ wall

Golden 1 CU celebrated the official opening of its newest branch in downtown Sacramento, Calif., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Center Branch is one of the first businesses to open in Downtown Commons. It features a contemporary, open interior design, touch screen check-in, interactive iPads and a mosaic “Wow” wall.

Hollywood, Calif.-based First Entertainment CU opened its most advanced branch to date in Culver City, Calif. The branch has several interactive features and free coffee.
