Riverdale, Utah-based America First CU donated funds for snow boots to students of Transition Academy at Jordan Valley School. In a learning activity created to teach the students about financial literacy, each student received a VISA gift card to purchase boots.
In Baton Rouge, La., Campus FCU's Campus for Kids fundraising campaign collected $2,500 for Our Lady of the Lakes Children's Hospital.
New England FCU, Williston, Vt., donated $5,000 each to four Franklin County organizations: Franklin-Grand Isle United Way, Franklin County Home Health Agency, Tim's House and Martha's Kitchen.
People's CU, Middletown, R.I., said its seventh annual community food drive donated 283 lbs. of food to the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale.
UMassFive College FCU, Hadley, Mass., and its members collected more than 300 coats, jackets and gloves for the Amherst and Northampton Survival Centers.
A team of staff members from Yolo FCU, Woodland, Calif., spent a morning volunteering at the Yolo Food Bank to fill and prepare boxes for local schools and partnering agencies. The volunteers filled and stacked approximately 3,000 lbs. of food.
Forest Area FCU, Fife Lake, Mich., surprised the staff of its Kalkaska branch with an early morning activity: to take $500 and Pay It Forward into the community. This included paying for an elderly couples groceries, giving funds to KalGas to be applied to the heating bills of those they knew were struggling to pay, and purchasing breakfast for several residents at a McDonald's and a Big Boy.
Jessica McDonald of Lake Jackson, Texas-based TDECU's training department taught budgeting to a group of elementary students at Wild Peach Elementary. Also, employees at the TDECU Cuero Member Center created Valentine's Day crafts to sell to the public as a fundraiser for Relay for Life to fight cancer. Finally, Four TDECU employees were honored by Junior Achievement of Brazoria County for their community volunteerism.
IC FCU, Fitchburg, Mass., expanded into the Worcester area. The new branch is located on Boylston Street (Route 12).
