Strengthening Ukraine’s CUs

The Credit for Agriculture Producers Project in the Ukraine hosted a visit by the World Council of Credit Unions and the Global Women’s Leadership Network. The purpose of the CAP Project is to strengthen the credit union sector in Ukraine to improve the quality of the financial services and products offered to farmers and agribusinesses in rural areas.

Golfing to benefit veterans

Keesler FCU, Biloxi, Miss., hosted its 6th Annual “Eagles Under The Oaks” Golf Tournament to benefit Combat Wounded Veterans of South Mississippi. This year’s tournament raised a total of $25,000 for CWVSM. Separately, Keesler awarded $1,000 each to the seven winners of the Lisa J. Stubbs Memorial Scholarship essay contest.

Visions FCU, Endwell, N.Y., received the American Heart Association’s Gold Achievement award. Visions achieved the AHA’s status of a Fit-Friendly Worksite. Employees have access to a comprehensive wellness program, with health benefits including free biometric screenings, rotating fitness and nutritional classes, a running club, and more.

MECU’s next Millionaire’s Club

MECU of Baltimore is sponsoring the newest Millionaire’s Club financial literacy experience at the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women. The charter school was featured in the Sundance Film Festival documentary “STEP.” Separately, MECU encouraged employees to take charge of their health by hosting a walking challenge.

Five credit unions (NuMark CU, NorthStar CU, Healthcare Associates CU, Earthmover CU and Abri CU) and the Illinois CU League combined forces with local pizzerias to raise money through “Slice of the Pie” events for the benefit of the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Army Aviation Center FCU, Daleville, Ala., announced the winners of its 2017 Jim H. Mitchell Scholarship, who competed against applicants from AACFCU’s service areas of Southeast Alabama, Florida’s Emerald Coast and the Mobile Bay Area and scored as the top 11 candidates.

Advancial welcomes car lovers

Dallas-based Advancial FCU welcomed classic car owners and enthusiasts group the “Katy Cruizers” to help open the CU’s newest branch in Katy, west of Houston. Also attending the party was D’Art, the Money Musketeers mascot, who took photos with kids, handed out fidget spinners and replica classic cars, and posed with a restored cherry red 1957 Chevy Bel Air.

Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members CU, Indianapolis, hosted its Ninth Annual Golf Outing. The sold out event raised $25,000 to benefit the Indiana Members Foundation, which supports children in Indianapolis and surrounding communities.

La Capitol FCU, Baton Rouge, La., announced the winner of its Big Green Egg Giveaway, Kris Wilkerson. Anyone who submitted a mortgage application during the four-month promotion period was automatically entered to win the prize, valued at $1,100.
