Michigan First CU, Lathrup Village, Mich., is celebrating its 90th anniversary. Founded in 1926 as Detroit Teachers CU, it became the largest teachers' credit union in the world and, 11 years later, was named the largest credit union in the world—a title it held until the 1960s.

To help with the aftermath of the Ecuador earthquake that devastated 26 credit unions, Los Angeles FCU donated $10,000 to the World Council of Credit Unions. In 2015, LAFCU also donated $10,000 to World Council to assist credit unions affected by the Nepal earthquake.
