America First
Riverdale, Utah-based America First CU celebrated the opening of its 116th branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Downtown Summerlin, Las Vegas. The occasion was marked with an appearance by the UNLV Rebel Girls. The CU now has 14 locations in Southern Nevada.
Security Service
San Antonio-based Security Service FCUs Charitable Foundation made a $10,000 donation to bring Junior Achievements financial literacy program to David Gourley Elementary School in Salt Lake City. Separately, the CU marked the opening of its new branch in McAllen, Texas, with a $3,000 donation to the Salvation Army.
New Bedford
New Bedford CU, New Bedford, Mass., sponsored the scholarship given to Breeana Baptista to attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouths Charlton College of Business.
Great Lakes
Employees from the Round Lake Beach branch of Great Lakes CU, Bannockburn, Ill., visited a local Dunkin Donuts and performed numerous random acts of kindness, including buying breakfast for patrons and hand-delivering doughnuts to local businesses.
Royal
Royal CU, Eau Claire, Wis., and the Barron County Financial Coalition partnered to present a new financial education program, Test Drive
Next Stop Reality to more than 300 students from eight Barron County high schools.
Financial Partners
Financial Partners CU, Downey, Calif., contributed $5,000 to sponsor the Los Angeles areas largest science festival, Big Science Fest, held at the Columbia Memorial Space Center.
Langley
Langley FCU, Newport News, Va., donated $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Virginia Peninsula for support of its youth mentoring program.
Los Angeles
Los Angeles FCU, Glendale, Calif., joined the 2016 Autism Speaks Los Angeles Walk at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Separately, the CU hopped over to the LA Zoo for the 2016 Big Bunny Spring Fling and it hosted a Glendale Chamber of Commerces After-Hours Mixer to increase its visibility in the Glendale business community.
Naveo
In Somerville, Mass., Naveo CUs Scholarship Committee awarded four scholarships of $1,000 each to local students during the CUs annual meeting.
Members Financial
Members Financial FCU, Midland, Texas, teamed up with a local office supply company and hosted a drive to collect used printer ink cartridges to be recycled. The proceeds were donated to Partners in Education to benefit schools in the Permian Basin.
