Chase’s Ben Walter on serving small-business clients

Throughout his career, Ben Walter has been focused on small businesses. He now runs business banking at JPMorgan Chase, as CEO of Chase for Business; previously he was an executive at Hiscox, an insurer for small and medium-sized companies. At Small Biz Banking, he'll be giving a keynote address about what he's learned in his years covering this market.

Banks frequently talk about their initiatives for small businesses — but what's working and what's not? At the conference, our vice president of research, Janet King, will be presenting new research on how banks are working with small businesses.

Big banks banking small businesses

Many of the biggest banks will be at the conference discussing how they work with small businesses. Some of the speakers who will be on stage include several execs from Comerica Bank: Brian Haney, Senior Vice President Retail Strategy and Transformation; Sandra Felegy, Senior Vice President, California Director of Small Business Banking; and Sineria Ordóñez, Vice President, External Affairs and National Hispanic Business Development Manager. From U.S. Bank, Devon Bray, Small Business Banking Regional Executive, and Dee O'Dell, Head of Business Banking Sales, will both be speaking. Other speakers hail from Capital One, M&T Bank, Truist, TD Bank, BMO, Citizens and others.

Banks increasingly turn to fintech, bank tech and payments partners to help serve their small-business customers. Small Biz Banking will feature several tech-company execs speaking about how they work with banks and what's next for the future of this banking sector. On stage will be Mona Kothari-Chitalia, Director, Digital Strategy, Global Financial Services, at Microsoft; Bernardo Martinez, Vice President of Microbusiness at PayPal; Christina Riechers, GM of Square Banking at Square; and Ginger Siegel, North America Small Business Lead at Mastercard.
