NEWTOWN, Pa. - 1st Webbank Direct.com, a division of Sovereign Bancorp, has struck an affinity agreement with AAA North Jersey.
1st Webbank, which serves businesses and affinity groups, will provide personalized financial services to the more than 430,000 members of the motorist group through a customized Web site. Users will be able to conduct transactions by Internet, telephone, automated teller machine, or mail.
The arrangement "will nicely round out our offering of automotive, travel, and financial services to current and prospective members," said David Hughes, executive vice president of AAA North Jersey.
1st Webbank's services include bill payment and the ability to download statement data into personal financial management applications.
AAA New Jersey is a tax-paying, not-for-profit organization headquartered in Wayne with members in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties.
Sovereign Bancorp, the third-largest bank in Pennsylvania, has $35 billion of assets and about 575 branches.
