3Q Loss at Georgia Bank Over Problem Loans

First Coweta Bank in Newnan, Ga., said its problem loans more than tripled from a year earlier in the third quarter, to $14.2 million, resulting in a loss of $484,000 for the three months.

The $136 million-asset company reported a loss of $189,000 in last year's third quarter.

With its quarterly losses widening and its capital levels strained, First Coweta said it "considerably" slowed its loan originations in the third quarter.
