Advisers: Business Clients Pessimistic

Business owners are not planning to hire, and most are not expecting the economy to recover next year, according to financial advisers surveyed at PEAK's Excell national conference.

About 77.4% said their business owner clients are not inclined to hire in the next six months; 69.7% said their business clients are not optimistic that the economy will turn around at any point next year, and 78.2% felt that extending unemployment benefits has kept joblessness higher than if benefits had expired.

PEAK, a financial adviser consulting and coaching firm that is owned by LPL's Carson Wealth Management, surveyed 234 members at its biannual meeting Wednesday. Advisers have a "decidedly negative outlook on the prospects for an economic recovery," PEAK said.

The Omaha, Neb., firm offers financial professionals specific solutions to manage and market their businesses, as well as strategic tools to ensure implementation.
