Airline Enters Payment Pact with TNS

Transaction Network Services Inc. said Monday that it will supply gateway services for Continental Airlines Inc. to process payments for reservations made online.

Continental, a Houston carrier, has agreed to use the Reston, Va., company's TNSPay system.

"We will process millions of card-not-present transactions each year with TNS providing access to its global payments network," Ron Anderson-Lehman, Continental's chief information officer and a senior vice president, said in a press release. "In addition, we will no longer need to divert resources to making payment scheme updates. TNS will take care of these, which will result in substantial cost savings."

Ray Low, the president of TNS' payments division, said the arrangement "is more cost-effective than Continental Airlines' building internal custom upgrades each time a change is required."

The companies did not say how long the contract would run.
