American Bank in Corpus Christi, Texas, will promote two executives next year, after longtime chairman and chief executive Al Jones retires.

The $1.3 billion-asset bank said Ben Wallace will become sole chairman and Richard Scanio will become CEO, according to a news release. The appointments will take effect on Jan. 1, after Jones retires.

Wallace has been co-chairman, along with Jones, since last year. Wallace has been a bank director and its general counsel since 1984.

Scanio has been chief operating officer since 2007 and bank president since 2009. He joined American Bank in 1989.

Jones will remain actively involved with the bank as a director and president of the bank's holding company, American Bank Holding. Jones has been with American Bank since it opened in 1970. He served as president and CEO from 1988 to 2004. He was named chairman in 2004.
