American Century Hires Lehman Execs

American Century Investments has hired a pair of portfolio managers from Lehman Brothers.

John Lovito and Federico Garcia Zamora will begin co-managing the $1.7 billion American Century International Bond Fund on Feb. 2, the Kansas City, Mo., company said Tuesday. The fund had been subadvised by JPMorgan Asset Management.

Both managers will be in American Century's New York office.

Mr. Lovito, 44, will also join American Century's fixed-income macro strategy team. He was a managing director and head of global fixed-income strategies for Lehman Brothers Asset Management. He was based in London and was a lead manager for the unit's global and international fixed-income portfolios.

Before that he had been a senior vice president and team leader for international fixed income with Lehman Brothers Asset Management in New York.

Mr. Garcia Zamora, 35, was a portfolio manager and foreign exchange strategist for global fixed income with Lehman Brothers Asset Management. Before that he had been a senior consultant with Argentina's Ministry of Economy.
