Banc One Corp. of Columbus, Ohio, said it has issued two million Visa Check cards, giving it the largest number of checking account customers and the greatest transaction volume among the-1,000 U.S. financial institutions that offer the Visa debit brand.
Check cards are automated teller machine cards enhanced with the Visa logo, allowing them to be used at any point of sale where Visa is accepted.
The $83 billion-asset Bane One introduced a pioneering ATM card that could be used at the point of sale in the mid-1970s. It relaunched the product in 1992 as
the "One Card."
