Banco Bradesco buying 25,000 Hypercom units.

PHOENIX -- Hypercom Inc. announced a major sale of point of sale equipment to Banco Bradesco of Brazil.

Included in the order were 16,000 T7P terminals, a recently introduced product that integrates a printer with the payment processing device. Banco Bradesco is also getting 9,000 T7E terminals. All 25,000 units come with S7 PIN pads for personal identification numbers.

Banco Bradesco, which has 2,000 branches, is the third-largest commercial bank and largest private bank in Brazil. It is aggressively deploying debit and credit terminals for the country's rapidly modernizing payment system.

"Within the next 18 months, we expect to deliver 40,000 T7P units to Brazil" on top of an installed base of 20,000 POS products, said Jairo Gonzalez, president of Hypercom Latino America, the Arizona-based company's marketing unit in Miami.

Verifone Inc., Hypercom's larger rival in the point of sale equipment business, recently announced the sale to Banco Bradesco of 5,000 Omni 380 systems with printers and PIN pads.
