Bank of the West of Los Angeles, a unit of BNP Paribas' BancWest Corp. of Honolulu, hired Richard D. Byrd to the newly created position of senior executive vice president and head of the wealth, investments, and insurance group.
Mr. Byrd runs the bank's wealth management-related divisions, which have been consolidated under him.
These include wealth management and trust; BancWest Investment Services, a broker-dealer; BW Insurance Agency Inc., and the asset management functions of Bank of the West's private banking unit.
Mr. Byrd had been an executive vice president and director of wealth management services for City National Bank in Los Angeles, where he ran both its broker-dealer units and its personal and business trust services subsidiary.
BancWest Investment Services has $6.5 billion of assets under management. Bank of the West, which announced the hiring Tuesday, has $62 billion of bank assets.
Private Bank of Calif. Hires LaPorte
Private Bank of California in Century City, Calif., announced that it hired Kevin LaPorte as a vice president and relationship manager.
Mr. LaPorte has more than 10 years of banking experience; he has worked in private banking, business management, and real estate in the Los Angeles area.
Private Bank of California, which announced the hiring Tuesday, is a state-chartered commercial relationship bank.
