BB&T Hires Sales Executive for Private Arm

BB&T Corp. has hired Mike Woody as a sales and service leader for the private financial services group in its Charlotte wealth management unit.

Mr. Woody, 59, has 30 years of financial services experience, including 24 years with Bank of America Corp. His background includes marketing, retail delivery strategy, multistate banking management, and market president roles, BB&T said Wednesday.

He will manage 27 regional private financial services teams in BB&T's 11-state territory. Its private financial services clients are typically small-business owners, corporate executives, and professionals with $250,000 to $1 million of assets to invest.

BB&T created the wealth management unit in July 2003 to combine its personal trust and private financial services. It has $10 billion of assets under management.
