BB&T Insurance Services announced Thursday that it has a deal to buy J. Rolfe Davis Insurance in Maitland, Fla.
Purchase of the property and casualty and employee benefits specialist, which is expected to be completed this month, would expand BB&T Insurance's presence in the Orlando metropolitan area. BB&T bought Burkey Risk Services of Maitland and Boynton Beach in March.
BB&T Insurance also has Florida offices in St. Petersburg and Tallahassee.
The Davis agency was founded in 1942 by former Orlando mayor J. Rolfe Davis. The privately held brokerage is ranked among the nation's top 100 agencies by Business Insurance magazine.
The deal's price was not disclosed.
J. Rolfe Davis has more than 130 employees. It has five insurance divisions: commercial property and casualty, employee benefits, personal lines, financial services and retirement plans.
BB&T Insurance now has 100 insurance agencies around the Southeast.
