Bernanke Seeks 'Balance'

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke said Thursday that the central bank is focused on getting banks to lend to small companies by urging its examiners not to cause lenders to be too conservative.

The Fed chief said the central bank's examiners need to "strike the right balance" — not going back to 2006, when loans were made on terms that were too easy, but likewise not going to the other extreme of making it too hard to get credit.
