Beyonics Tech May Sell Hard Disk Business To KKR - Source

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--U.S. private-equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.is looking into buying the hard-disk drive business of Singapore's BeyonicsTechnology Ltd. (B19.SG), a person familiar with the situation said.

KKR representatives will be meeting executives from Beyonics next week, theperson, who declined to be named, told Dow Jones Newswires.

The deal could be worth at least S$300 million, he said.

He added that Japan's Nidec Corp (NJ), which recently bought Singapore'sBrilliant Manufacturing Ltd., may also want to buy Beyonics' hard-disk driveassets to secure its position in the industry.

In April, KKR bought electronics-components maker MMI Holdings Ltd. for US$664million.

Beyonics and KKR declined to comment.
