Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. announced Wednesday that it promoted Brett D. Sovine to president and chief executive officer of its trust company.
Sovine was a managing director for Brown Brothers Harriman Trust Co. N.A. and will continue in current client relationships as well as oversee the national trust company and regional trust heads. He will continue to be based in Charlotte.
The company also announced it hired Kerri Mast as a vice president and wealth planner in the Charlotte office. She will report to Sovine and be responsible for providing trust and estate planning services to BBH Wealth Management clients in the region.
"These appointments reflect our commitment to serving the high-net-worth community in Charlotte and its surrounding communities," Charlie Izard, a partner and head of Brown Brothers Harriman's Charlotte office, said in a press release.
Sovine, a North Carolina certified public accountant, has worked as the regional head of Brown Brothers Harriman's since 2002. Mast was a vice president of planned giving for Foundations for the Carolinas. Before that she was an associate in the wealth transfer tax practice group at Moore & Van Allen PLLC.
Brown Brothers Harriman, which had $38.2 billion of assets under management on Dec. 31, is an investment manager for individuals and institutions. Its trust unit is based in New York and has offices in Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte and Chicago.
