California Bank of Commerce (CABC) in Lafayette, Calif., has hired a bank consultant as its president and chief executive.
Terry Peterson will also join California Bank's board, the company said Monday. Peterson was recently working as a consultant to bank boards in Washington, Oregon and Nevada. He co-founded Charter Bank in Bellevue, Wash., and was a former Washington executive for middle-market commercial banking in Seattle for KeyCorp (KEY).
"The board and management are pleased with the selection of Terry Peterson to lead our Bank into the next stage of our history," Stephen Cortese, the company's chairman, said in a press release. "His experience in starting a bank, working at a large commercial bank, and consulting with bank boards and management will serve us well as we chart our path forward."
California Bank of Commerce has one branch and $349 million in assets.
