Card Briefs: Amex in Marketing Pact With Calif.'s CitySearch

American Express has signed a marketing agreement with CitySearch, the developer of on-line city guides, and has made a minority investment in the company.

CitySearch, Pasadena, Calif., compiles guidebooks to attractions and events in major cities and posts them on the Internet. The company has 16 city sites launched or under way. The company also offers Web site development and hosting for small and midsize businesses.

Larry Kutscher, vice president of interactive enterprise development at American Express, said the deal with CitySearch "demonstrates our commitment to helping our customers and merchants use the Internet more effectively."

"With CitySearch," he added, "we can provide customers with the local information they need, and allow them to more easily learn about local merchants' products and services."
