NEW YORK - MasterCard International has selected GSD&M of Austin, Tex., to manage its $80 million U.S. media buying assignment.

The New York-based card association said it selected GSD&M after a three-month review of six agencies with buying capabilities.

DeWitt Media, New York, held the last contract for two years before the review, MasterCard said.

Beginning immediately, GSD&M will buy the broadcast and print advertising for all MasterCard credit and debit products, commercial card products, card services, and merchant trade advertising.

GSD&M, founded in 1971, has billings in excess of $300 million from clients such as Coors Brewing Co., Royal Crown Co., Southwest Airlines, and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
